Today has been a challenging day.  More so than usual with regards to server. 

And coming after a very irritating and challening week.

But there have been some upsides.

After the IWF (Internet Watch Foundation), a UK-based "charity" had blacklisted this site as the apparent source of all evil in the world and I spent 24+ hours with only sporadic access to my own site, thus not able to do my job for us properly, they finally pulled their heads out their asses and I can get back in again.

This good news was added to by finally getting the server up and a bunch of people in. 

At one point there were 5 people in, yay!  Including some very talented builders. 

We're now working on the new spawn area which will soon become the official spawn area.

I have also protected as many buildings as I could, including the new spawn, but I don't know who they belong to so have set ownership to me for now.  This means you won't be able to build more on your houses until I reset that or add you to permissions list.  For that you'll need to send me a sendmail (write /sendmail) or a message here explainining which house I need to protect in your name.

The reason for this is because ordinarily the towny mod would be used to protect your stuff from griefers, however, it's not working properly right now, so the only way to protect is to get an admin to use cuboid plugin and protect for you.  I'm sorry about this and hope to have it fixed ASAP.  But on the plus side, at least your stuff will probably be safe

On a more negative note; I have just had to make our first 2 bans (To_Phat and 22hamen).  Although they MIGHT turn into suspensions over time.  To_Phat for some very odd behaviour making me suspect he was a hacker and for making some irritiating demands.  22hamen for inviting him in the first place and also making irritating demands and generally wasting my time.  There's no jail at the moment so my approach to rule-breaking is one of complete intolerance right now.  Stay within the rules and guidelines and there'll be no problem.

It is very clear to me that neither of these 2 had read the rules or guidelines properly.  Otherwise they would know not to waste my time or make stupid demands, like asking for instant promotion from stranger to admin (!!!) or hacking.

Let me reiterate-

1) Hackers / Cheaters are banned straight away.

2) I look very unfavourably upon people who waste my time.

3) If you don't read the rules and you get banned, then it is 100% your own fault.

I sincerely hope tomorrow is more positive all round.

Lying in bed typing Linux commands on my phone into VPS server via SSH.  This means I just need to setup Java and Hey0 now and we'll have a very basic server, yay!

Company just explained how to setup FTP and SSH for server.  Hopefully they know what they're talking about.  If their advice works I could have very basic server running in an hour or 2.

FAO Admins/Mods; If you can, pls try to ask me only really big / important stuff, I can't micromanage everything.  Hence delegating via "mod" and "admin" status

At the moment I'm swamped with trying to get the server itself online, it's proving quite difficult.

Starting to wonder if there's anything better....
